Chris Wollard and The Ship Thieves to tour Europe with Drag The River!

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

cw_blogChris Wollard and the Ship Thieves will be embarking on their first ever tour this December as they head overseas to Europe with Drag The River.

Chris Wollard (Hot Water Music/ The Draft/ Black Top Cadence/ Rumbleseat) actually began working on the songs that would comprise the first Ship Thieves LP prior to the demise of Hot Water Music. Writing and recording songs over the span of several years during breaks between Hot Water tours, Wollard started piecing the puzzle of the Ship Thieves together with the help of good friend and producer/songwriter Ben Lovett. The late night recording sessions grew into orchestrated ensembles, including players Addison Burns (Quit, The Enablers) , Derron Nuhfer (Gunmoll, Cutman, Less Than Jake), Ben Lovett (Heavens), Bill Clower (Radon) and George Rebelo (Hot Water Music, The Draft, Blacktop Cadence, Against Me!).

Now with their critically acclaimed album recently released on No Idea Records, Wollard has made the Ship Thieves a functional band consisting of Ben Lovett, Addison Burns, and Chad Darby (Averkiou), with Jeffery Haineault (Ninja Gun) replacing George Rebelo on drums. The new lineup will debut at THE FEST 8 in Gainesville, FL over Halloween weekend.

Drag the River will be performing the tour as a two-piece, consisting of Jon Snodgrass and Chad Price. This tour will be Drag’s first time in Europe as well.

The tour is still being booked and more dates will be announced soon! You can click “more” below for the dates!

Jon Snodgrass and Cory Branan release split LP, tour together with Joey Cape

Friday, June 5th, 2009

cory_jon_lores_72Cross-country buddies Jon Snodgrass and Cory Branan are proud to announce the imminent release of a collaborative split LP featuring their own original songs alongside two covers. While they’ve been planning the record for quite some time, they finally got around to tracking the songs in late 2008 while Branan was touring through Colorado.

Track Listing:
1. Excitable (Branan)
2. Corner (Branan)
3. Solo In Soho (originally by Phil Lynott)
4. Wild One (originally by Thin Lizzy)
5. Walk Around (Snodgrass)
6. Born Apart (Snodgrass)
7. Yeah, So What (Snodgrass)

The album, which features epic cover art depicting the great duality of nature and artistic allusions to da Vinci’s The Last Supper and van Gogh’s Starry Night, will be available exclusively on vinyl and a very small number of mailorder-only cassette tapes. It will be released on July 21st, 2009 on a limited pressing of colored vinyl (500 sun colored, 500 moon colored) care of Suburban Home Records.

Snograss and Branan will be hitting the road just prior to the record’s release with labelmate Joey Cape, all three of whom released solo albums in the past year. Cape continues to support his album “Bridge,” released last October by Suburban Home, while Snodgrass dropped his “Visitor’s Band” album this past February, also on Suburban Home.

The songs were recorded right after Austin finished recording his album, “Somebody Loves You”. While doing some shows and spending time with family in Florida, Austin hooked up with Suburban Home’s newest band, the Takers, to record 4 songs together. The 7” includes 2 covers and 2 originals.

The split is scheduled for release on July 21st, 2009.

Both artists have tours planned this month. Austin Lucas is currently in the midst of a massive European tour with label mate Mike Hale, while The Takers are finalizing their plans for the first annual “Citrus Circuit Tour,” a string of Florida shows later this month that hopes to bring the traditions of roots music, family, and friends back to a rapidly modernizing music scene.
