HIGH DIVE leak new studio album from No Idea Records/ On Tour.

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Punknews.org is leaking a stream of the entire new studio album from HIGH DIVE. The new three-piece Queer punk band from Ryan Woods of Defiance, Ohio.

You can stream the self-titled debut that was released on LP/CD via No Idea Records last month here.

Last month, No Idea Records gave away a free MP3 download from the album.

You can download the song “Tennessee” for free here.
You can order the album from No Idea, or purchase from iTunes here.

The 10 track album was recorded at Russian Recording in Bloomington, IN with Mike Bridavsky. “This is where Defiance, Ohio and lots of other Bloomington based bands record”, says Mr. Woods. “We are good friends with Mike, he is very good at what he does. We felt very comfortable with him. It was important to us to make this record very simply. We had played the songs a lot so we wanted to just be really ready. In the end it was all recorded in one session and mixed the next day. We are really happy with how it all worked out”.

Ryan commented on the inspiration for starting yet another musical outlet outside of Defiance, Ohio:

“For years, Theo Hilton (Defiance, Ohio + Nana Grizol) and I had found it
difficult to talk about the issues of being queer in our songs. It was something that was really important to us. Toby Foster seemed to have a real strength for expressing his feelings on those topics with his music. We had known Nick Romy for years and as soon as we played the few songs we had already written, it seemed to click into place. We all found a greater voice for speaking about our experiences being queer, while being influenced and excited by the energy of some of our good friends’ three piece pop-punk bands like Songs for Moms, The Max Levine Ensemble, Delay and Vacation.”

HIGH DIVE – S/T TRACK LISTING:
1. A Reason
2. Sincerity
3. Hi, How Are You?
4. I Forget To
5. I Think We’re Alone Now
6. Tennessee
7. Clean
8. I and You and We
9. Restless
10. Thank You

Stream the new SEAWEED 7” via MAGENT!

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Post hardcore legends, SEAWEED, have resurfaced to bring the masses two brand new songs in the form of a 7” to be released on July 5th via No Idea Records.
The two tracks, “Service Deck” and “The Weight” are currently streaming over at Magnet Magazine.
These new songs document the first new recorded material from the band since their 1998 Merge album, Actions and Indications.
You can pre-order the 7” from No Idea Records here.

Guitarist Wade Neal had this to say about the recordings, “We recorded the songs in our ‘beloved’ hometown of Tacoma, Washington. New drummer, yet old friend Jesse Fox (Bangs, Polecat) laid down the hammer-esque beats, and the whole shebang was recorded by our guitarist Clint Werner in our practice space, Sound West Recording, and Clint’s basement studio. Serious DIY spirit was in the air the whole dang time, and behold, new tracks! It is hoped that an album’s worth of material might follow this smidgen of music product later on this year…we’ll see, Seaweed, we’ll see”.

To celebrate the release of Small Brown Bike’s new studio album Fell & Found, No Idea Records has posted a full stream of the new album.

You can listen to the album in it’s entirety over at No Idea Records.

The album was produced by J Robbins and is the band’s first full-length, featuring the four original members since Our Own Wars, released in 1999 by No Idea Records. The band’s last full length The River Bed was released in 2003 by Lookout! Records.

Fell & Found features 11 new songs recorded at Million Yen Studios in Chicago, IL. Mike Reed, singer/guitarist, had this to say about the new album: “This record brings together everything we’ve done as a band, but still feels new. We didn’t over think things and just had fun making music again. We’ve written 20 or so songs since we got back together and these are some of our favorites.”

Working with J Robbins was also a big factor in the overall sound of the album. Reed said, “Recording with J was something we’ve always wanted to do. It was such an honor to make it happen. He put in long days and kept the ship running smoothly. It was gratifying to come full circle and still have fun in the studio with your best friends. We owe a lot of that to J.”

Small Brown Bike have also announced a few shows to support the new album. They will be headlining two Midwest shows with support from long time friends, The Casket Lottery who they did a split EP with back in 2002 that was released by Second Nature.
The band is also performing at this year’s Krazy Fest as well as THE FEST 10. Read below for all dates.
Small Brown Bike released material on Second Nature, Smallman and were part of the No Idea Records family. They released several ground breaking albums before leaving the label to release their final swan song for Lookout! Records and ultimately broke up in 2004.
