Friday, July 9th, 2010
Berkeley, CA’s Samiam will be releasing a double LP/ CD collection entitled “Orphan Works” on No Idea Records on September 7th. The 18 track collection consists of studio outtakes, in-studio radio shows and live recordings from the “Clumsy” and “You Are Freaking Me Out” period of the band’s career.
To celebrate the release, the band will be touring Europe starting October 19th with Death in the Family and Former Cell Mates. Expect confirmed dates to be announced in the weeks to come.
They will be breaking in their new drummer, Charlie Walker of Chamberlain/Split Lip on this tour.
Samiam formed in late 1988 after the break of up of Gilman’s Isocracy. Samiam released seven albums in their career on several labels including “Hopeless”, “Burning Heart”, “Atlantic”, “New Red Archive”, and “Igition/Tommy Boy”.
The band performed at last year’s FEST 8 in Gainesville, FL. You can check out footage of the band performing with Hot Water Music’s Chris Wollard here. You can also check out footage of their Sao Paulo show here and of their Buenos Aires show here, taken last December.
