Bridge & Tunnel stream new EP via Punknews.org and tour Europe with Young Livers!

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

bnt_iv_cover_blogBridge & Tunnel are currently on tour in Europe with label mates Young Livers. To celebrate, Punknews.org is currently streaming the band’s new EP “Indoor Voices”. You can check out the stream of the 5-song EP on the band’s Punknews.org profile page.

“Indoor Voices” will be released as a 10” very soon by No Idea Records. The band currently has a limited European edition 12” version with hand-screened covers for sale on their tour.

The artwork for “Indoor Voices” was created by drummer Pat Schramm at TwinCuts.

The EP was recorded and mixed by Ian Bryn and Phil Douglas in Long Island, NY this past winter and features the last batch of songs written with their original bass player, Tia Meilinger.

Drummer Pat Schramm had this to say about Tia’s departure and the reason for the EP’s release:

“Tia runs her own business with Vaya Bags and she just became too busy to do both her business and the band full time. Mike is our good buddy who filled in for Tia for a few other past tours and now he is playing full time. The songs on this EP are songs we wrote with Tia before she left and we decided we wanted to have them documented.”

The band previously released their “Loss Leaders” 7” on Yo-Yo Records in 2009 as well as a split 7” with Young Livers, a self-titled 7”, and their debut full length “East/West” all via No Idea Records.

Punknews.org launches stream of Leatherface’s “The Stormy Petrel!”

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

lf_cover_blogPunknews.org has launched a stream of the new album from Sunderland, UK’s Leatherface. You can head over to the band’s profile page to stream “The Stormy Petrel” in its entirety.

“The Stormy Petrel” is the band’s ninth full-length album and will be released by various labels worldwide. The North American LP/CD version will be released March 23rd via No Idea Records. Their version will feature an entirely different cover art and overall layout than the European, Japanese, and Australian versions released this week.

BYO Records released the band’s last album, Dog Disco, in 2004.

Leatherface formed in August 1988, and their music has often been described as a bastardized cross between Hüsker Dü and Motörhead. Though never attaining much more than a cult following outside their native country, the band has been cited as an influence by higher-profile band such as Hot Water Music, Dillinger Four, and Tiltwheel. Jack Rabid, music critic and publisher of the music magazine Big Takeover, once listed Leatherface’s 1991 release Mush as one of the fifty greatest punk albums of all time.

Leatherface recently flew over to Canada to start their Canadian/US tour, which concludes in an appearance at this year’s Harvest of Hope Fest in St. Augustine, FL. They will be joined on the road with Canada’s Yesterday’s Ring, with select shows featuring Bridge & Tunnel and The Riot Before. You can check out the dates by clicking “more” below.

Young Livers leak the first song from new album on No Idea Records!

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

yl_look_tough1Young Livers have leaked the first song from their long awaited sophomore album. You can check out “A Sad State In Affairs” on the band’s MySpace page.

Young Livers recorded the album this past June/July at Satellite Recordings in Ventura, CA in the sinister company of Armand John Anthony, also responsible for the auditory violence committed on last year’s Glass And Ashes “S/T” album released by No Idea Records.

The band had this to say about recording:

“We have a new record almost ready! We spent two weeks in sunny Ventura, CA with Armand and the residents of the 86 House. We recorded 13 songs from which we selected 11 to be on the record. The new material is different, as we have a different lineup than the first record, with Mike Carter playing bass and contributing some brutal vocals. We spent a lot of time in our practice space working on the material. Mike slept in Dave’s garage for a few months while we were writing, while the rest of us spent little to no time outside of practice or work. We locked our selves in the studio for two weeks and I think we produced something we are all proud of. Once we get this record out, we are going to get out for some serious touring and reuniting with friends! Also, we’re going to be using some leftover tracks for a split or two. We’ve already begun writing again and are throwing around the idea of recording again soon for something not quite an LP.”

You can also check out a studio montage video the band produced to get a sneak peak at some other songs from the album. The video can be viewed here.

This album is the follow up to the band’s critically acclaimed debut album, “The New Drop Era,” released in 2007 by No Idea Records and Kiss of Death Records. You can still stream “The New Drop Era” in its entirety on the band’s Punknews.org profile page.

Last year, the band released a split 7” with Long Island’s Bridge & Tunnel care of No Idea Records, a split 7” with UK natives Attack! Vipers! on Germany’s Yo-Yo Records, and a live split 7” with Gainesville’s Army of Ponch courtesy of Sound Study Recordings.

Young Livers are also doing a string of dates with their good friends from the United Kingdom, OK Pilot, leading up to their performances at THE FEST 8 in Gainesville, FL this Halloween weekend. You can click “more” below for the dates!
