Spanish Gamble announce tour with Nothington, post video interview!

sg_blog_3Gainesville’s Spanish Gamble have announced a tour in support of their debut album for Paper + Plastick, entitled “It’s All Coming Down.” After rendezvousing with longtime buds Nothington at Wilmington, NC’s Rad Fest, they’ll tour together down the East Coast, across the Southwest and on into California. The first batch of dates is behind the “more” button below, with more confirmations to come in the following weeks.

No Friends give away new EP on Kiss of Death Records!

nf_ep_cover_blogAny day now, Kiss of Death Records will be releasing a new one-sided 12″ EP from No Friends, entitled “Traditional Failures.” The band features Tony Foresta (singer of Municipal Waste) on vocal duties and 3/4ths of the recently defunct New Mexican Disaster Squad. Their sound has been described as “80’s style hardcore in the vein of Dag Nasty, Descendents, and Gorilla Biscuits.”

In anticipation of their upcoming tour (dates below), Kiss of Death is giving away the entire EP for free download. You can dowload the album here.

THE DOPAMINES sign to Paper + Plastick, unveil new song, and currently on tour!

dopamines_blogCincinnati’s power pop punk trio THE DOPAMINES recently crashed in Gainesville, FL after their performance at THE FEST 8 to record an album with Roger Lima from Less Than Jake and Matt Yonker from Teen Idols/The Queers at Roger’s Moat House Studios. The recording was passed along to Paper + Plastick owner/ Less Than Jake drummer Vinnie Fiorello. The album was then passed on to Stephen Egerton (Decendents/ALL) for mixing.

The final product, entitled “Expect The Worst,” will be released by Paper + Plastick in late June on LP/Digital download.

To celebrate the union and the band currently being on tour, Paper + Plastick have leaked a stream of “Public Domain” from the album. Head over to paperandplastick.com to hear the song on their label player.

Young Livers leak another track from “Of Misery and Toil,” tour Florida & Europe!

“The Other Side of the Pendulum” comes from the band’s sophomore album, “Of Misery and Toil,” which will be released April 27th on LP/CD courtesy of No Idea Records.

Alternative Press recently launched a premier of the video for the title track of the new album. You can head over here to check out the video for “Of Misery and Toil.” The video consists of still photos shot by their good friend Brian Keheller on the Young Livers/OK Pilot pre-FEST tour last October.

The band previously leaked a few other tracks from the new album. You can check out their recent posting of “In Rapid Succession” and “A Sad State In Affairs” on the band’s MySpace page.

The Riot Before leaks “What I’ve Missed” from their new album on Paper + Plastick!

trb_1_blog1Alternative Press has launched a sneak stream of a new song from Richmond’s The Riot Before. You can head over to Alternativepress.com to hear “What I’ve Missed” from their new album “Rebellion,” which will be released on LP and digitally through the band’s new home, Paper + Plastick on April 27th.

The band previously leaked a stream of “The Oregon Trail” on the their MySpace page.

“Rebellion” was tracked at The Magpie Cage in Washington, DC with legendary producer J. Robbins (Jawbox, Jawbreaker, Against Me!).

Young Livers debut new video & finalize European tour dates!

yl_blog_5Alternative Press has launched a premier of the video for the title track of Young Livers’ new album, “Of Misery and Toil.” You can head over to this page on their website to check out the video. No Idea Records will release “Of Misery and Toil” April 27th on CD/LP.

The video is comprised of stop-motion stills shot by their good friend Brian Keheller on the Young Livers/OK Pilot pre-FEST tour last October.

The band previously leaked a few tracks from the album. You can check out their recent posting of “In Rapid Succession” as well as the previously leaked “A Sad State In Affairs” on the band’s MySpace page.

Young Livers recorded the album this past June at Satellite Recordings in Ventura, CA with Armand John Anthony, also responsible for the auditory violence committed on 2008’s Glass And Ashes “S/T” album released by No Idea Records. Drums were re-tracked in December ’09 with Ryan Williams in Gainesville, FL. Williams then re-mixed the record and passed it along to New Alliance Mastering for a finished product.

Tubers head for the West Coast!

tubers_blog_live1St. Augustine, FL’s Tubers are heading west in support of their recently released third album, “Anachronous.” You can currently stream the entire album on the No Idea Records website. Anachronous was released jointly by No Idea Records, Bakery Outlet Records, and Echo Canyon Records. The band will be playing dates with Street Eaters, Old Growth, and Fleshies.

Tubers consists of current and ex- members of Twelve Hour Turn, Alligator, Vicious Fishes, Strikeforce Diablo, Asshole Parade, and Stressface. Tubers’ vocalist/guitarst Rich Diem also runs Bakery Outlet Records, which has put out releases from Holopaw, Street Eaters, Old Growth, Des Ark, Erin Tobey and many more.

Tubers previously released two albums on Bakery Outlet, “Shell Out” and “Self-titled,” as well as a split 7” with Richmond’s Brainworms on Rorschach Records.

Stream Small Brown Bike’s “Composite, Vol. 2″ at Alternative Press!

sbb_comp2_blog1Alternative Press has just launched a stream of Small Brown Bike’s new 7”, “Composite Vol. 2″ and is hosting an exclusive premiere of their “Hourglass” video. You can stream two new songs, “Some Optimistic” and “Never Walk This Alone,” and check out the exclusive premier of their video for the song “Hourglass” from Composite Vol. 1, by clicking here.

Scheduled for release on March 9th, “Composite Vol. 2″ will feature two new songs tracked this past January in the band’s home recording studio and mixed/mastered by Dave Feeny at Tempermill. The 7” will be limited to 1,100 physical copies (with digital download) and will be the second in their 7” series of new material for No Idea Records.

The band commented on the new material on Composite Vol. 2 and filming the video:

“We filmed this with some buddies in Orlando after The Fest 8. We wanted something to document ‘Composite Vol. 1,’ so we had a BBQ and spent the afternoon playing music.”

The video for “Hourglass” was directed by Chase Heavener from FCTN and shot by Chase Heavener, Matt Staker, and Ben Reed. The live audio was captured by Ben Reed and Dan Jaquint.

Harvest of Hope Fest announces schedule!

hoh_2010_logo_blog4The Harvest of Hope Fest is pleased to announce the schedule lineup for their 2nd annual arts and music festival. Attendees will be treated to three days of music featuring over 200 bands including Broken Social Scene, Anti-Flag, Billy Bragg, Dr. Dog, Dead Prez, Senses Fail, Man Man, Kid Sister, the 22-piece indie-rock marching band Mucca Pazza and the best in underground alternative, punk, indie, rock, and hip-hop.

Right in time for spring break, the 2010 Harvest of Hope Fest, March 12th – 14th, is located on the St. Johns County Fairgrounds in St. Augustine, FL. In addition to a great music lineup the festival offers expanded camping options, carnival rides, games and more! New attractions this year include: a “beer garden” provided by Champion Brands, a solar powered stage within the Not For Profit world, a mechanical bull, and free shuttle rides to the beach and downtown St. Augustine. Also new for this year, the festival will debut a Saturday Kids Matinee hosted by Kimya Dawson of Moldy Peaches fame. The Kids Matinee will feature performances from musicians like Justin Sane from Anti-Flag, face painting, a magician, and a bounce house.

The Harvest of Hope Fest strives to connect communities and encourage global awareness through the power of music. By attending the Harvest of Hope Fest, music fans are directly showing their support for The Harvest of Hope Foundation with their voices and dollars.

All proceeds from the Harvest of Hope Fest will be donated to The Harvest of Hope Foundation – a non-profit organization that provides financial, educational and service oriented aid to migrant farm workers all over the country. As of last month, The Harvest of Hope Foundation has distributed over $790,000 to migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families. The foundation’s services include, but are not limited to: emergency healthcare assistance, housing and transportation assistance, educational grants and scholarships, monthly expenses, replacement clothing, and financial aid.

Ticket Prices for 3 day passes are currently $49.50 and $60.00 at the gate. Single day tickets are on-sale for $25.00 and $35.00 at the gate. Camping passes are $19.50 per person with limited number of VIP camping/3 day passes available for $99.00.
