Git Some hit the road again!

gs-web-small1With the roar of an engine and a billowing cloud of smoke, Denver’s stoner/sludge freaks Git Some will be blowing town and stinking up the van for a string of tour dates ending with a performance at Total Fest in Missoula, MT!

The band features Planes Mistaken For Stars alumni Chuck French on guitar and Neil Keener on bass, and has garnered comparisons to Drive Like Jehu, later-era Black Flag, and The Jesus Lizard. They released their debut LP, “Cosmic Rock,” last year via 1-2-3-4-GO Records.

Assholeparade releasing new 7″ and touring the globe!

ap_welcomehome_small_blogCrucial thrash legends Assholeparade are gearing up to release a 7 song 7” on No Idea Records entitled “Welcome Fucking Home.”

The songs were recorded over several sessions when the members were all back in Gainesville at Crescendo Sound Studios (Hot Water Music, Against Me!, No Friends).

You can hear “Lesson #1,” “Freedom Fighters,” and “Soldiers 4” from the 7” over at the band’s MySpace page.

With a new release comes a new tour, so Assholparade will once again tour the States leading them to another performance at Best Friends Day. After that, they’ll head across the ocean to put a stranglehold on Europe, with the highlight being the band’s first time performing in Russia!

The Fest 8 announces another crop of bands!

The folks at No Idea Records and Southern Lovin’ PR have announced another block of confirmed bands for their annual three day party down in Gainesville, FL called The FEST 8.

Added to the already impressive line up will be:

Light Yourself on Fire, Vicious Cycle, Guiltmaker, Arms Aloft, The Knockdown, Forensics, Defiance Ohio, Carpenter, Worry Ship, Cutting Class, Hawks & Doves, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Iron Lung, Coalesce, Chris Wollard and the Ship Thieves, King Friday, Drag the River, Joe McMahon (Smoke or Fire), Matt Kurz One, Fin Fang Foom, Shark Pants, Todd Congelliere, The Textbook Committee (Guided By Voices Tribute Band), The Methadones, WILD ASSumptions, Dukes of Hillsborough, American Steel, Joey Cape, Jon Snodgrass, Chad Price and a special reunion from No Idea alumni Gunmoll and Gainesville visionaries Hair Beard Combo!!!

The FEST 8 promises more confirmations in the weeks to come as they finish up booking and going through band applications.

The Fest previously announced a diverse lineup of almost 200 confirmed bands featuring the likes of 7 Seconds, Less Than Jake, Dillinger Four,Youth Brigade, Samiam, Dead to Me, Strike Anywhere, Fleshies, Torche, Radon, Kylesa, Tim Barry, Bomb the Music Industry, A William Scream, Lemuria, Off With Their Heads with reunions from The Thumbs, The Ghost, and Clairmel.

FEST 8 weekend passes are $60 in advance and $80 weekend of. Passes get you into all the official showcases (9 stages) over the Halloween Weekend (October 30th, October 31st, and November 1st) in Gainesville, Fl.

Whiskey & Co. to tour the Southeast to shake off studio boredom!

whiskey_blog_smallFlorida’s alt-country darlings, Whiskey & Co., have spent the last few months cooped up in Crescendo Sound Studios (Hot Water Music, Against Me!, Leatherface, Fall Out Boy) recording their third album for No Idea Records. The record will be called “Rust Colors” and is set to be released in late 2009.

To shake off a serious case of studio boredom, the band has decided to do a small get-away tour of the great South in the heat of August. You can click “more” below for the dates.

The Measure [SA] return to the road!

fid_blog_picNew Brunswick, NJ’s The Measure [SA] are heading back out on the road for a string of dates at several fall festivals and a short East Coast run with fellow Jersey natives The Gaslight Anthem on their way to The Fest 8 in Gainesville.

The band has continued their never-ending string of 7” releases lately, including a split 7” with the UK’s Flamingo 50 care of Ernest Jenning Record Company and a 4-way split 7” featuring Pretty Boy Thorson and the Falling Angels, Basement Black, and Dead Mechanical on Traffic Street Records.

They’re currently writing for their second full length, with hopes to release the record in early 2010 on a soon-to-be announced label.

Suburban Home Records announces final details for 14th Anniversary Weekend!

14thposter-copySuburban Home Records has announced the final lineup of their 14th Anniversary celebration. The weekend will feature two stacked shows consisting of most of the Suburban Home Family as well as garage sale, BBQ, Washers Tournament and Art Show.

Tickets for the shows can be found on the Three Kings Website. There are also a group of hotels reserved for the weekend. You can follow this link to get a room at Towne Place Suites (a Marriott owned hotel) for $59 a night. The rooms are located only 8 blocks from where all the shows are being held.

Worn In Red announce title of new album and leak a new song!

wir_fisheye_blogWorn In Red have decided on the name of their forthcoming album care of No Idea Records. The record will be called “In The Offing” and is scheduled for release in early November of 2009.

They’ve also leaked a second track entitled “Piled Like Bricks,” which can be heard over on the band’s MySpace page.

“In The Offing” will be their first release for No Idea, on the heels of last year’s split 7” with Benard, a split release between Atlanta’s Alaska Records and No Brakes Records.

Worn In Red hail from Richmond, VA and have garnered comparisons to Planes Mistaken for Stars, Four Hundred Years, Frodus, Glass and Ashes, and Sleepytime Trio.

The band is planning to tour the continental United States and Europe following the record’s release. They’re currently scheduled to play The Fest 8 in Gainesville and a Saturday night after-show at Richmond’s Best Friends Day.

Ninja Gun to finish off last few dates of tour in early August!

Despite the majority of their tour with Fake Problems being cancelled, Ninja Gun have elected to continue on in the face of adversity and round out the last few dates on the tour in Alabama and Florida.

We regret to inform all interested parties that the recently undertaken tour featuring Fake Problems and Ninja Gun has been officially cancelled, due to the death of a Fake Problems family member. Our deepest sympathies go out to the band and their families.

No Idea Records welcomes Worn In Red to the family!

joe_web_smallRichmond/Charlottesville, Virginia’s Worn in Red have posted the first track from their upcoming debut album for No Idea Records.

You can stream “When People Have Something To Say” on the band’s MySpace page or download the mp3 from No Idea Records right over here.

The album is scheduled for release on LP/CD this fall with cover artwork and album title to be announced shortly.

Worn in Red will be taking the summer off from their normally rigorous schedules but are confirmed to play Farmfest and Best Friends Day, with plans to undertake an extensive tour this Fall.
